Why do people tend to not saying goodbye to the dead?

The diploma thesis deals with the search for answering the question of people´s not saying goodbye to the deceased. The first chapter deals with the topic of dying and death in the past and compares it to the present situation. Another chapter emphasizes the significance of the ritual in human life, it deals with the early and current funeral rituals, their justified meaning from a psychological point of view. It also deals with the places of the last resting of our ancestors. The third chapter deals with the ethical aspect of this issue and, in particular, with the search for the answers, which are the cause of the current situation. The last chapter focuses on social work with survivors, deals with accompanying, mourning, and counseling help.

Access to death and social work with the dying and their families

The bachelor's thesis deals with the phenomenon of death and dying which are defined in the first chapter. It also compares the access to death in the past time with the access to death nowadays. This thesis describes the forms of dying, funeral habits and rituals in the past and the concept of death nowadays. The last chapter deals with social work with dying people and their families, so it can serve as an inspiration for social work with this target group.

Jewish Funeral Rituals of Central Europe

This bachelor thesis deals with Jewish burial rituals in Central Europe and their forms, especially in the Bohemia, Hungary and Poland, in history and in the present times. It is divided into four parts and includes an introduction and conclusion. The introductory part deals with a different approach of today's secular and Jewish communities to death and burial. It also determines the target and methods of this work. The first part describes the Jewish perception of death and resurrection and its development. It also deals with the connection between the perception of death and faith in the coming of the Messiah, which also undergone some development in history. The second part describes the Jewish burial society called Hevra Kadisha, the reasons for its creation, governance structure, its development and importance in the Jewish community and its activities including their ritual objects. A separate chapter is devoted to the literature of Jewish funeral rites. The third part concerns especially with funeral, but also describes the care of sick and dying. A funeral is divided into chapters on the different stages of its progress, including the differences between communities in different countries.
